Through Gates of Splendor

I finally made it out and picked up a couple of Elisabeth Elliot books. The one I'm going to start next is called....you guessed it.... Through Gates of Splendor.

This link will let you read snippets and more reviews. I can't wait to read it.

This one just looks super interesting...

Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong (Paperback)
by James W. Loewen

The Know it all

I realize I'm adding a lot of books tonight. They're just on the brain and I don't want to forget about them.

This one has been on my mental list for a long time. I have it on good authority that it is quite entertaining.

The Know-It-All: One Man's Humble Quest to Become the Smartest Person in the World (Hardcover)
by A. J. Jacobs (Author) "a-ak That's the first word in the Encyclopaedia Britannica..." (more)

Soon, Silenced, Shadowed

OK. I've read Soon, by Jerry Jenkins. the first in a totally different Christian end-times fiction series. Good stuff and looking forward to the next two. It's been at least a year or more since I finished soon, but it was a good read and different enough from the Left Behind series to not feel like you were reading the same book. This one actually starts from the perspective of the persecutor. Check- on the list.

Don't Let the title scare you.

I'm not sure about this one. I found the title/author written on a piece of paper saved from my time at the bookstore. I looked it up on amazon to jog my memory as to why in the world I wrote this one down. There were so many lists i made.

Emergency Sex and other Desperate Measures - Kenneth Cain, Heidi Postlewait, Andrew Thompson

It's basically about these three people who met in Cambodia or something. A lawyer, a social worker and a doctor. And them dealing with life, saving lives and all kinds of stuff.

So, it's on the list.
